Barracks of General Píka: large area at the edge of Dejvice quarter, that was, however, never part of the city structure, but was always an enclosed military compound. The army is planning to abandon this area in near future and release the whole premises. Thus a site of 8.5 hectares will be left for future development. Considering the proximity of universities campus it could be suitable for new university town consisting of housing capacities, services, public facilities and other functions.
Students Centre building, which is the main part of the diploma project, is situated in the central part of the university town in direct connection with the square. This building should serve as a main meeting point. It should create a platform for students to cooperate, inspire themselves mutually, get access to the hi-tech multimedia equipment, get help with their researches, participate in student-to-student lectures and courses, develepe their projects and study both individually and in teams. It should be a place of both quiet focus and spontaneous and enthusiastic exchange of opinions, experience and information.
